Luis Diaz has worked successfully as an illustrator, designer, and fine artist. From advertising agencies, websites and publishers including IDW Publishing, Devil’s Due, The Topps Company, Bang Productions, Miami New Times, New York City’s The Village Voice and WWE.

Most noted his work has been seen in Corel Painter Magazine, ADAPT 2007-08, Ballistics Publishing and Spectrum Fantastic Art Annuals. Diaz also created over 40 paintings for the new Garbage Pail Kids and Wacky Packages.  Last year he was named one of “Six Artist You Need To Know” by metromix.com and CITY LINK. Diaz is a graduate from The Maryland Institute, College of Art in 1999, cum laude.

I started my art career around the time of my middle school days drawing on girls notebooks and catching tags in the boys room. My whole message or goal, like any graffiti writer was to advertise my name on all types of nouns…people, places or things.

What had my attention was the idea that I can drive all over town and see my name on a dumpster or wall and say, HEY THAT’S ME! Its such a cool feeling knowing that you vandalized something as a statement and supporting an underground movement. My whole life I have had great interest in things that are  controversial.

As years went on and my style and control started to evolve and developed, I came to conclusion that the graffiti world is not for me. I started to express my graffiti outlet into canvas.

I label my art work as abstract surrealism vs. spray paint. My visual components involve a series of color schemes and pop characters that I have developed and marketed over the years. My goal as a human is to capture all masses and overthrow their objective of what is considered art and to embrace the underground. I feel as if im an infant in this vast world of art and self expression. I look forward to a lifetime of expressing and  sharing what I call, “oems world”.

Jay Bellicchi, a Boston native, moved to Miami in 2000. Shortly thereafter he started “FIFTYTHREE”, a limited edition apparel line. Since then Jay has adopted the name “FIFTYTHREE” as his creative identity, painting and designing under that moniker.

In the spring of 2009 Jay founded GRAFFTOYZ a graffiti toy company. GRAFFTOYZ creates interactive toys and art objects with elements of graffiti and street art in mind.

DeKAL has always been intrigued by comic and video game art and for a long time this was the only kind of imagery he emulated in his drawings. It was when he discovered graffiti in high school that his art was given a kind of purpose.

Then after taking his first art history and figure drawing classes in college, he was introduced to the more realistic style and subject matter that are prevalent in his art today.

Jeff majored in painting at his university but found out about concept art and Photoshop on his own time. He was amazed by the digital painting process of creation that was utilized in this field. He immediately began experimenting with it and now he can’t see himself ever not using these tools. Dekal is currently doing freelance illustration for entertainment companies, independent music artists, and any other patrons that seek him out and offer projects that he can take an interest in.

Eva Ruiz is a self taught artist born in Colombia. She arrived in Miami at the age of eleven, and as a child loved drawing portraits of her teachers and the landscapes of her imagination. Her notebooks were filled with drawings instead of homework, which often got her into trouble.

As an adult, Eva tried different occupations, often losing interest. Tired of bouncing in no direction, she started painting in 2003 and developed a passion and a long lasting affair with color and the world inside her imagination.

Artist Statement:

In 2007 Yanes’ paintings were featured as set back drops on The Learning Channels hit show “Miami Ink”. Since then he has been commissioned by various corporate entities such as Red Bull, Sony, Kleenex, Gibson Guitars, My Space Latino and Publix Supermarkets. In December of 2008, Yanes’ custom designed calendar debuted in all of Publix Supermarket’s stores. The artist painted a 13 piece series, consisting of Florida’s endangered species to bring awareness to the fragile eco-system which surrounds us all.

Alex Yanes’ current exhibit “Majestic Beauty” which consists of 12 paintings and 7 installation pieces will be on display at The Miami Children’s Museum from April 23, 2009 through August 30, 2009.
